We've all heard many times before that drinking a glass of red wine in the evening is indeed good for your health when consumed in moderation. This is true for a couple of reasons. It can be relaxing after a long and stressful day, but it is also rich in antioxidants that can help protect against heart disease and reduce inflammation. Recently, however, another reason has been added to that list.
In a study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, researchers found that foods and drinks rich in flavonoids (like red wine) reduce the risk and incidence of erectile dysfunction. Other flavonoid-rich foods include strawberries, apples, blueberries, cherries, blackberries, radishes, and even some citrus fruits.
The study, which included 50,000 middle-aged men, asked questions about erectile function, diet, smoking, lifestyle, etc. Over a third of the men in the study reported cases of erectile dysfunction. Those with flavonoid-rich diets had a reduced incidence of ED. Those with flavonoid-rich diets and who exercised regularly had a 21% reduced risk of developing erectile dysfunction.
If you're concerned about the functionality and health of your penis, making healthy dietary choices and exercising regularly are two of the best things you can do for yourself.
